Through eight games, the Dallas Mavericks are tied for last place in the Western Conference
The Dallas Mavericks hosted the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday evening. It was the second game of a back-to-back for New Orleans, and they were without Zion Williamson. They were 1-6 heading into their game vs. Dallas.
However, it was the Pelcians who walked away with a 101-99 win. That marked the Mavericks’ third consecutive loss, and the team is 2-6 to begin the 2025-26 season. That is tied with the Pelicans for last place in the Western Conference. Can the Mavericks put a rough start behind them and turn the season around before it starts spiraling out of control?
Cooper Flagg and the Mavs are struggling to begin the 2025-26 season
The mavericks fell to 2-6 and it’s well past time for Nico Harrison to be fired. He’s the leader of this circus and he built a team that can’t play basketball with how it’s played in 2025.

At the 2024-25 trade deadline, Mavericks GM Nico Harrison made a blockbuster deal. He sent All-NBA PG Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. In return, Dallas received NBA champion Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick. Luka Doncic envisioned himself as the next franchise player for Dallas. Nico Harrison wanted the franchise to head in a new direction. To begin the 2025-26 season, the Mavericks are dealing with several key injuries.
Kyrie Irving is recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered on March 3, 2025. The team is hopeful Irving can return before the new year. Additionally, the Mavs are without big man Anthony Davis, who is currently listed as day-to-day due to a calf injury. He has missed three consecutive games for Dallas. Without Davis, the Mavericks are on a three-game losing streak.
They really look at the 2-6 Dallas Mavericks and say fans need to “get over” the Luka trade LMAOOOOOOO

The Mavericks are missing key pieces of their lineup early in the 2025-26 season. Through eight games, Dallas’ 106.3 points per game is 30th in the NBA. In the 2025 NBA draft, Dallas had the #1 overall pick and selected Cooper Flagg out of Duke. Through his first eight games, FLagg has scored 20+ points twice. He’s also had one game where he finished with just two points. For the season, Flagg is averaging 14.4 points per game.
Dallas needs more offensive production from Flagg while the team is dealing with injuries. The Mavericks are on the road Friday evening to face the 3-6 Grizzlies. Memphis has lost four consecutive games while Dallas has lost three straight. Someone has to win and break their losing streak. Can Cooper Flagg help the Mavericks get back on track with a win vs. Memphis?
